Since March 2020, ICT stakeholders from more than 150 countries shared with ITU the immediate measures they took to keep communities connected during COVID-19. With more than 400 initiatives collected in the first phase of the REG4COVID platform, we identified critical insights into the measures most commonly taken by industry players, technical communities, regulators, and more.
From facilitating business online, protecting vulnerable populations, fast-paced technological innovation, to reducing network demands… the challenges were unprecedented.
The question now is – what next? Are these measures sustainable? How have regulatory frameworks evolved? What long-term policy and regulatory trends have been introduced for and by the different groups of stakeholders, looking at both immediate and longer-term responses, what works and what doesn’t work?
As we look to the future, we invite you to share your experiences on the measures needed for a resilient recovery. Your input will provide crucial information to prepare our common future. As 2020 comes to a close, we also ask how ITU can best support your efforts against COVID-19 in the new year
