Dear Partners & Friends,

The Ministry of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship (MoDEE) has launched the National Youth, Technology, and Jobs (YTJ) project in September 2020. The YTJ project aims to improve digitally-enabled income opportunities and expand digitized government services in Jordan through interventions that address specific opportunities and constraints in the supply and demand sides of the economy.  The project duration is five years.

YTJ is set to cater to Jordan’s “future of work” needs by working on the supply (through digital up-skilling of youth & the creation of tech hubs) and demand (through increasing digitally-enabled opportunities in and market expansion of the private sector). On the supply side, the project is also set to develop a digital skills curriculum for grades 7 through 12 in public schools.

YTJ will incentivize the private sector and social enterprises through multiple financial & non-financial incentive programs that will help in market expansion in Jordan. YTJ will also contribute to MoDEE’s digital transformation vision to digitize most government services and support digital transformation of service delivery to citizens and businesses.

Youth, Technology and Jobs (YTJ) project’s main goals are:

Youth

  • Digital upskilling of 30k Youth in Jordan
  • Developing the Digital Skills Curricula for G7-12 at Public Schools
  • Establishing 5 Tech Hubs for Underserved Communities

Technology

  • Digitization of payments
  • Acceleration of government digital transformation

Jobs

  • At least, double the growth rate of jobs created in the digital economy of Jordan
  • Supporting Jordanian companies’ expansion & growth through various incentives (GrowJO program)
  • Incentivizing international companies to expand in Jordan
  • Adoption and growth of the GIG Economy

A crucial part of the YTJ project is to support and encourage the growth of the digital business sector through access to GrowJO incentives which support  local and international market growth through business development, utilize business development intermediaries, and foster the adoption and growth of the gig economy, through access to grants.

We launched our second incentive program GrowJO (Market Expansion) on Monday, the 16th of November, 2020. The objective of the GrowJO (Market Expansion) incentive is to support the business development efforts of digital firms aimed at securing new contracts from target markets in the GCC countries, Europe, China, India, and the USA. The project will provide matching grants of up to $100,000 to cover up to 50% of the cost of implementing the business development plans of those companies. Cost items covered will include travel and accommodation for attending conferences/trade shows, introduction of marketing and sales pipeline management processes and tools, retainers/success fees for intermediaries (e.g. brokers) that can help companies secure new contracts, and salaries of new business development staff.

Please apply, or encourage your contacts to apply, if this incentive is useful to your business needs. Further details on the incentive and application process can be found via grow.jo
