The Jordan Payments and Clearing Company (JoPACC) and INJAZ have joined forces in an exciting collaboration to advance the uptake of digital payment solutions at universities in Jordan. This strategic partnership, a testament to JoPACC’s and INJAZ’s commitment to youth empowerment, aims to build and increase students’ digital financial literacy and awareness while promoting financial inclusion among the youth segment in Jordan. The partnership is poised to bring about a remarkable transformation in the higher education landscape, propelling Jordanian universities towards becoming “cashless universities” and marking a significant milestone in their digital transformation journey.
As the world rapidly moves towards a digital economy, and with the increasing popularity of digital transactions, the collaboration aims to eliminate the hassle of traditional payment methods and offer a seamless, secure, and convenient digital payment experience for students, staff, and faculty members. The initiative is also a step towards equipping Jordanian university students with the necessary skills and knowledge to navigate the evolving landscape of digital financial services, as it is crucial for young people to possess the expertise and understanding of these services to increase their financial well-being and competitiveness in the job market.
JoPACC will leverage its expertise in the digital payments landscape to introduce digital payment solutions to universities in a step to make their financial transactions more seamless and secure, which will enable students to pay their tuition fees, charges, and other campus-related expenses digitally and instantly, thereby reducing the reliance on cash transactions. In addition, INJAZ, renowned for training university students on various topics including financial literacy, will attract experienced volunteers who will deliver the digital financial awareness content. To ensure that these selected volunteers are well-equipped with up-to-date knowledge, JoPACC will provide them with comprehensive training sessions on Digital Financial Services through a Training of Trainers (ToT) Program.
On her behalf, Ms. Maha Babou, CEO of JoPACC, stated: “We are thrilled to partner with INJAZ to bring about this much-needed digital transformation in Jordanian universities, which is another milestone in our deeply rooted relationship with INJAZ. By digitizing payments, we aim to simplify the financial processes for students and universities, making them more convenient and secure. This collaboration also aligns with our vision to drive youth financial inclusion and promote the adoption of advanced payment technologies across Jordan”.
Ms. Deema Bibi, CEO of INJAZ, also expressed her excitement about the partnership, stating, “We believe that providing young people with the necessary skills to access and utilize digital financial services is paramount in ensuring their financial stability and success. We hope this partnership will have a transformative impact on students’ financial well-being and pave the way for a more financially inclusive society.”
The financial awareness training program will cover a range of topics and offer students hands-on training and practical knowledge about digital financial services and financial institutions in Jordan, types of financial accounts, digital payment options and instant transfer services, financial planning and saving, and the responsible use of digital financial services. The training program will commence in the upcoming academic year 2023/2024, with plans to reach universities across Jordan.
