The Hashemian Kingdom of Jordan received the presidency of the Digital Cooperation Organization in its current session of 2024 with the unanimity of all member states at the General Assembly Meeting of the Organization held in the Bahraini capital of Manama on Wednesday and in the presence of a number of Ministers of Communications, Information Technology, Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship of the Member States.

The meeting of the General Assembly of the organization, which is like the Hashemian Kingdom of Jordan, in which Ahmed Al-Hananda, the Minister of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship, the Secretary General Samira Al-Zaabi, and the Executive Director of Strategies Management, Future and Entrepreneurship in the Ministry, Engineer Abdul Qader Al-Bataina, witnessed the launch of a package of initiatives and programs aimed at bridging the digital economic gap and empowering youth, women, and entrepreneurs. Businesses will take advantage of the services provided by the Internet and modern digital technologies such as generative AI and data technologies as well as link them to high-value global opportunities by working with countries to unify efforts, share knowledge about the digital economy and international best practices and ensure member states benefit from the opportunities available in the global digital economy.

Jordanian Minister of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship, Ahmed Al-Hananda, expressed his happiness upon Jordan receiving the presidency of the General Assembly of Digital Cooperation Organization in the 2024 session, which reflects the confidence of member states in Jordan’s capabilities as a key actor at the regional and international level in the world of technology, digital innovation and entrepreneurship and its ability to play a leading role in achieving The goals of the organization are to ensure that Jordan supports the efforts of all member states and work on coordination to push the digital economy wheel and provide real digital economy-based opportunities in the region.

It is worth noting that Jordan is one of the founding countries of the Digital Cooperation Organization, which currently has 15 members and there are 9 new requests for countries from different continents to join the organization as the organization seeks to increase its members and spread in the international arena.
