The Information and Communication Technology Association of Jordan (Int@j) has concluded two landmark events in Damascus, aimed at building a new era of digital cooperation between Jordan and Syria.
The association organised the Jordanian-Syrian ICT Forum and the first-ever Jordanian Pavilion at the “Hi-Tech” Information and Communication Technology Exhibition, creating significant momentum for regional integration, according to an Int@j statement.
The Jordanian-Syrian ICT Forum, held in partnership with the Ministry of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship and the Syrian Ministry of Communications and Technology, brought together over 230 participants.
The high-level event was attended by Minister of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship Sami Smeirat, Syrian Minister of Communications and Technology Abdulsalam Haykal, Jordanian Ambassador to Damascus Sufian Qudah, and Senator and Chair of the Jordan and Amman Chamber of Commerce Khalil Haj Tawfiq, as well as many other high-level government officials from both countries.
A delegation of nearly 80 Jordanian ICT companies, one of the largest in the sector’s history, participated, signaling a “strong” commitment to reviving economic and technological ties.
Int@j Chairman Fadi Qutaishat stressed the strategic vision behind the joint initiative with both ministries.
“This forum reflects a shared conviction that cooperation between Jordan and Syria in the ICT sector is not a temporary project, but a long-term path of coordination and joint action that our companies aspire to,” said Qutaishat.
“The presence of such a large and distinguished delegation demonstrates the seriousness of our commitment to building genuine partnerships with our Syrian counterparts. Our shared ambition is to transform this meeting into a clear action plan with joint projects built on a long-term vision, ensuring its impact benefits the citizens of both countries,” the chairman added.
Running concurrently from November 20-24, Int@j also organised the inaugural Jordanian pavilion at the Damascus “Hi-Tech” Exhibition, featuring 14 leading Jordanian technology firms.
The pavilion was officially inaugurated by Smairat and Haykal, underscoring the high-level governmental support for this bilateral initiative.
The pavilion provided a direct platform for these companies to showcase their advanced solutions in areas like e-payments, cybersecurity, enterprise software, and digital transformation, opening new channels for collaboration with Syrian businesses.
“The pavilion at Hi-Tech 2025 is a crucial step in supporting the entry of Jordanian companies into the Syrian market, which is poised for significant growth as demand for digital solutions increases during its economic recovery phase,” Qutaishat noted.
“These two events are deeply interconnected. While the forum sets the strategic vision as well as networking between decision makers at Jordanian and Syrian ICT companies and startups, the exhibition provides the practical platform for our companies to engage directly with Syrian partners, he added.
“This synergy is fundamental to establishing a phase of Arab technical integration based on partnership and innovation, Qutaishat highlighted.
The networking and discussions during the forum outlined a roadmap for collaboration and partnerships covering key areas such as digital infrastructure, cybersecurity, financial technology, digital transformation, and entrepreneurship.
Jordan’s mature ICT sector, which includes over 2,200 companies and boasts a zero per cent export tax, is well-positioned to share expertise and drive mutual growth.
